Bio

People who know me now might have a hard time imagining this, but I was a shy child; a tough position in a large, boisterous family. Photography has created a way for me to connect with many people at a very intimate level. The process of photographing creates moments of dialogue with others and in turn, photography becomes a visual discusson about the world.

During my first darkroom class, when my undeveloped photo slipped into a white pan of developer, I saw my vision bloom onto the paper, glowing under the amber light. It felt magical. In that moment, the process of capturing light into a photograph transformed my thinking.

It is now a part of my nature to translate the world into visual patterns that communicate ideas and stories to others.

“Photography to the amateur is recreation, but to the professional it is work, and hard work too, no matter how pleasurable it may be.” ~ Edward Weston
